Soot and Smoke Damage Process
A fire had broken out in this building which caused smoke and soot damage. SERVPRO of Montclair/ West Orange uses many cleanup procedures to get rid of smoke and fire damage.
If there is structural damage then the first mitigation step is to secure the building by using board up materials for doors and windows. Securing the building keeps looters from entering. A tarp can be placed on roofs to keep out the elements assuring there is no more damage happening to the building.
Smoke and soot is then cleaned up by our technicians. We use patented SERVPRO cleaning products that are specially formulated to remove soot residue and the smell of smoke.
